Matt Strachan included in Citywire Wealth Manager’s Top 100 for 2023
Our Chief Investment Officer Matt Strachan has been named as one of the most influential fund selectors in the UK & Channel Islands by Citywire’s Wealth Manager.

Matt Strachan has 30 years of industry experience, including a stint managing the Alliance Trust Investments North America Equity fund.
While Strachan moved on from the famous Dundee-based investment trust and firm, he stayed in the city when he joined Thornton Investments in 2014 and assumed the role of chief investment officer.
During his tenure at the wealth firm, he has been pivotal in establishing in-house model portfolios in 2014 and the AIM-IHT model in 2017.
A specialist in smaller companies, Strachan’s expertise extends across regions including the UK and Europe. In terms of where he is planning to allocate more in the next three months, he points to Asia Pacific, Latin America, thematic and UK equities. He identifies Sanlam Global Artificial Intelligence as a hidden gem, recognising the manager’s pioneering contributions in this domain.
If Strachan had not ventured into wealth management, he suggests he might have ended up tinkering with big machinery as an engineer.
