Charity of the Year

MND Scotland

Charity of the Year

Each year our staff choose a charity to support – its normally something that has affected a member of the team personally.

In recent years, we’ve supported charities including Scottish Cot Death Trust, Beat Eating Disorders, CICRA (Crohn’s disease), Maggies Centres, Myeloma UK and CCLG (Children’s Charity and Leukaemia Group – Joey’s Journey) and Alopecia UK.  This year we are delighted to support MND Scotland.

2025 – MND Scotland

We are delighted to be supporting MND Scotland this year.

MND Scotland is the only charity in Scotland dedicated to directly supporting people with motor neuron disease (MND), their families and friends.

In 1981, police officer John Macleod set up the Scottish MND Association from his living room, two years after he was diagnosed with motor neuron disease (MND) at the age of 33. Supported by his loving wife Peigi, their family, friends and John’s police colleagues, a new charity was born which aimed to provide support for others going through this brutal disease.

Today, MND Scotland supports hundreds of people living with MND across Scotland by providing practical, financial, and emotional support, whilst also funding essential research into finding effective treatments and a cure.

MND is a descent into the unknown, but with the support of organisations like Thorntons Investments, no one in Scotland will face the unknown alone.

We support. We invest in research. We campaign. We fundraise. We champion.  For more information, visit: www.mndscotland.org.uk
